extensive edits in photoshop – what to charge?

I had a shoot with a lady that wanted some sexy pics for her husband for their 20th anniversary…she has some cellulite issues and it’s taking me about 20 min per pic so far to do the fixes in photoshop – the results so far are GREAT…I haven’t had a shoot with this much editing yet, this is my first (I’m usually just cleaning up pimply faces and whitening teeth) – – what is the going rate for charging for these kinds of edits – hourly? per picture? – your help/suggestions is greatly appreciated!

If you’re doing them at the client’s request – at least $50/hr.

If you’re doing them just because you want to improve images, and didn’t know how to use light and shadows to de-emphasize the cellulite (I’m not being critical of your skill here … I’m just sayin’ …), then a minimal post-production flat fee should suffice.

And if you’re doing complete body shaping, smoothing, and re-sculpting (yeah, I’ve done a lot of that!) then the sky’s the limit – IF you’re client REALLY wants that!

But I’d be careful not to overdo it. Believe me, if they’ve been together for twenty years, he already knows where the cellulite is. And the fact that she wants sexy pictures for him shows that they have a healthy appreciation for each other.

Remember, this is about an intimate relationship between two people. You’re being given the opportunity to make it even more wonderful for both of them.

Good luck!
