opalescence tooth whitening toothpaste

I’m trying the Opalescence tooth whitening system again. Last time, the tooth pain and sensitivity after just one treatment was enough for me to stop. Well, this time, my dentist gave me a tube of Clinpro 5000 toothpaste by 3M, Vanilla Mint flavor. His directions are: after the bleaching treatment, put the Clinpro toothpase in my custom dental trays and sleep with the toothpase-filled trays in my mouth. Supposed to diminish the sensitivity effect. My question: is it OK to sleep with your teeth soaking in toothpaste all night?
The prescribing information for Clinpro 5000 recommends that the patient spit out the toothpaste after brushing. You are not supposed to swallow it. However, if your tray stays on all night and doesn’t slip off, it should be fine to leave it on. If you find that the tray slips off during the night, the risk of swallowing is too great, at least in my opinion, and I would stop using it that way.
Can Teeth Whitening be done with good ole toothpaste ???
